CGRE invests in people, organizations, and coalitions turning shared values into collective power — building a broader, more diverse, and more powerful base of vocal support for gender, reproductive, and racial equity.

Despite growing public support for gender, reproductive, and racial equity, well-organized opposition forces continue to exploit division, weaponize misinformation, and use wedge issues to erode rights and stall progress. Too often, basic human and civil rights are framed as polarizing — when in reality, a broad and diverse majority supports the freedom to make decisions about our bodies, families, and futures.

Achieving lasting gender, reproductive, and racial equity requires broad, sustained public support and the active engagement of a wide range of communities.

CGRE’s Majority Building strategy is designed to expand the base of support for gender equity by:

  • Connecting and mobilizing existing allies with new ones that have broad and influential constituencies — including faith-based communities — to grow a more representative and far-reaching base committed to advancing shared values.
  • Nurturing new efforts to co-develop and lead strategies on pressing gender equity issues, ensuring their engagement is not just symbolic but strategic and sustained.
  • Growing durable, multi-issue alliances that are proactive and responsive — connecting movements for LGBTQ+ rights, voting rights, and abortion access to build coordinated responses to opposition efforts. By resourcing multi-issue coalitions that are prepared to act quickly and strategically, we strengthen the overall movement and ensure no one issue or community is left to defend itself in isolation.

Through this strategy, we aim to expand and mobilize a strong majority that supports gender equity, elevate the contributions of new and under-engaged allies, and strengthen multi-issue coalitions capable of defending against attacks on our communities, and advancing meaningful policy change.

Building a Broader Movement

Through a collaboration between several of our grantee partners, a national college campus-based initiative is using creative, game-based events to engage students — especially men — on reproductive health, LGBTQ+ rights, and gender equity. This effort has expanded to include coordinated advocacy at the federal level and strategic digital outreach to build a broader, more active base of support.

By reaching new and often under-engaged communities and connecting them to multi-issue advocacy efforts, this collaboration reflects the goals of our Majority Building strategy: expanding the movement’s reach, deepening cross-issue collaboration, and mobilizing a stronger, more representative base in support of gender, reproductive, and racial equity.
