Information + Knowledge Management Specialist

The Collaborative for Gender + Reproductive Equity (CGRE) is a dynamic learning community of donors and foundations united in the advancement of gender, reproductive, and racial equity. We provide funding to advocates who are pioneering new approaches across issue silos to defend gender, reproductive, and racial equity and work towards a future where every person has the resources and autonomy to thrive. We focus on four core areas for transformative progress: State Power-Building, Judicial Strategy, The Alliance Table, and Responding to Urgent Threats. Since our launch, we have provided over $200 million in funding to grantee partners, half of which are led by women of color.

The Gender Equity Action Fund (GEAF) is an aligned, but independent, 501(c)(4) funder collaborative committed to advancing gender, reproductive, and racial equity through state-centered investments that build people power to drive transformative policy.

CGRE and GEAF are fully virtual organizations, fiscally sponsored by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and the North Fund, respectively.

The Role

The Information + Knowledge Management Specialist (IKMS) will help harness the many sources of data flowing into CGRE and GEAF, and analyze and transform that data into narrative and visual stories that strengthen our ability to support the work of our funders, grantees, and other partners. The IKMS will bring experience building out systems and workflows that capture and bring order to large volumes of qualitative and quantitative data. They will be equally comfortable working with technical systems and helping to develop effective communications. They will be skilled in handling information gaps and managing ambiguity with an orientation toward practical uses of data. This new, fully-remote role will report to the Grants + Data Manager and work across both CGRE and GEAF, especially with the Grants + Data and Philanthropy + Communications teams.

Primary Responsibilities

Design and refine data systems

  • In collaboration with the Grants + Data, Philanthropy + Communications, and Program teams, co-design new systems for unifying multiple sources and types of evidence, with an eye towards balancing volume, accuracy, feasibility, and significance; develop low-burden data collection systems that support the work of our grantee partners.
  • Test and refine methods to track impact effectively, including systems for transforming raw qualitative and quantitative data into usable narratives.

Compile, analyze, and synthesize data for learning and communications

  • Gather and input data from grantee reports; Monitoring, Learning, and Evaluation consultants; external advisors; field scans; events; and staff.
  • Code, analyze, and curate data.
  • Draw compelling storylines and develop narrative and visual products (graphs, charts, interactive graphics, slide decks, reports) that describe our impact for current and potential funders and other audiences.
  • Support content development for other external-facing communications, including our website, reports and updates, and materials needed by staff and consultants.
  • Compile and synthesize information on issues and political and philanthropic trends relevant to our funders, grantees, and our own learning.
  • Support copyediting of proposals, reports, and other written communication.
  • Play a supporting role in data governance.

Organizational collaboration and support

  • Support fundraising by the Philanthropy + Communications and Program teams by developing, refining, and communicating objectives and key performance indicators.
  • Project manage data collection and development of communications products.
  • Manage the data workflow of the Philanthropy + Communications team and design and implement streamlined data requests for other teams and consultants.
  • Be prepared for responsive work, sometimes on short notice, based on funder engagement or other needs.
  • Work across teams as part of a collaborative virtual environment.
  • Limited travel within the US to support events and other meetings.

Qualifications

  • Alignment with, and experience in, incorporating Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) principles into daily work and partnerships; ability to understand power dynamics and how they play out in society and the workplace.
  • At least five years of experience managing and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data in the gender, reproductive, and/or racial justice fields.
  • Insight into the varying information needs of different audiences (particularly institutional funders, individual donors, and grantee partners) and the talent to support the development of communications materials that speak to each of them.
  • Facility with Salesforce, Excel/Google Sheets, and PowerPoint/Google Slides. Experience with Fluxx, Monday.com, and/or Tableau is a plus.
  • A clear, compelling, and swift writer; experience supporting the development of communications materials for funders that cut through “philanthrospeak” is a plus.
  • Comfort with flexibility, ambiguity, and testing new ideas, as well as recalibrating as systems develop.
  • Able to build strong relationships with teammates and external partners in a virtual work environment; poised and comfortable with colleagues with different work styles and levels of formality.

Compensation and benefits

Salary range is $88,000-$92,000, commensurate with experience.

The IKMS will be employed by CGRE’s fiscal sponsor, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA), and seconded to work (10% of time) on GEAF. RPA offers a competitive benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) with up to 9% employer contribution; four weeks of vacation; and unlimited sick time. This position will work remotely and come equipped with virtual office tools, including computer, phone, and other technology needs.
